HE'S 6!

I can't believe my baby is 6 years old now, that's 2 hands! His first tooth is about to fall out, and it's giving me the heebee geebees every time he shows it to me. He's riding his brand new bmx bike without training wheels, that huge! Owen has always been a cautious child, unlike his sister Layla, he doesn't climb on things, jump off things, risk hurting himself in anyway. So not having training wheels anymore is a big deal and we're so proud of him!

I was able to attend Owen's birthday celebration at school this year. The Montessori birthday celebration is so neat, the teacher creates a timeline for every year of their life and as she reads about what the he did that year the child walks around the sun to symbolize that year passing. Owen walked around the sun so fast I'm surprised he didn't fall down!

blowing out his birthday candle, after they sang a birthday song that brought tears to my eyes...
Angels watching for his birth
A little child comes down to Earth
Angels watch him day and night
To fill his heart with love and light
Twinkle, twinkle little star today is Owen’s birthday

We celebrate your birth
And your place on the Earth
May you live long and healthy
Happy Birthday to you!!

the best Nonni, ever!

Last year was his last 'birthday party'. So this year we planned to do something low key with just a friend or two. Sunday we invited a couple of friends over to ride bikes, have some cake and ice cream to celebrate Owen's special day.
this is how the day ended... don't know why I uploaded these backwards...
D is the sweetest friend! Silly, sometimes, but sweet all the time!

happy birthday to you! Owen doesn't like cake. I know... so I asked him if he'd like an ice cream cake instead. He told me he liked chocolate cake, my chocolate cake...so I made it. He did not eat not one bite! Stinker!

Woo Hoo, money! This is Owen's love language at the moment, the best thing about it is that he doesn't want to spend it, he wants to save it!

Saturday we picked up his bff Derrick for a fun trip to FunDayGo, or 'FunDiego' as Owen says...please don't correct him if you hear him say it ;) Once they were worn out from all the bouncing, sliding fun we headed to WalMart for a new DS game. Owen has been biting, picking his fingernails for the longest time... I haven't had to cut his fingernails in like 3 years! I have been bribing him all this time that when the day came that I had to cut his nails, I'd buy him a DS...well Santa brought him one so I bought him a game to celebrate his achievement. Then we headed to ColdStone for some free birthday ice cream, which he didn't eat because he was too busy playing his new Bakugan game.

this picture cracks me up! a smorgasbord of expressions here
Wheeee
this is a big deal here, going down head first!

Happy Birthday Nonni and Poppi!

Nonni and Poppi came over Sunday afternoon to celebrate their birthdays, a week apart. It's such a blessing to have them living in the same town, to be able to visit with them often. They desperately want to move back to the beach, so I cherish the time we have, knowing the Lord might open that door...at least it's only an hour and a half away if they do. Mom, happy birthday, I hope you know how much I love you... you're an amazing example of the way God wants us to live and to love. and Poppi, happy birthday to you, thank you for loving my mother, for providing for her, for loving me like your own.

I love this picture, she looks like a baby, not like the toddler she is!

joy!
